The birthday was a great success but I must admit that the highlight of the day was when Owen demonstrated a new skill. His pottytraining is recent enough that he is still quite proud of himself and so periodically asks me to watch him pee. He raced through the living room yelling “somebody watch me pee” so I figured since it was my husband’s birthday the honor fell to me. As I was standing there in the bathroom he all of a sudden said, “did you know I can pee backwards?” As I stared at him blankly he demonstrated by turning around with his back to the toilet, bending down and peeing through his legs into the toilet. He did it perfectly which leads me to wonder how much time he has spent practicing. What would make someone want to pee backwards? And what else will he come up with?? Sometimes the future is frightening….
The rest of the day was good too—although I was tired since Leo woke me up at 5 a.m. to make breakfast in bed for his father. Later in the day we went to the Park With No Toys and then to Fries and Peanuts, after which we came home and hung out in the yard so all in all a nice, lazy day. However the highlight will have to go down as discovering that my second son can pee backwards and has spent time perfecting that skill….
