I’m now in recovery phase from my OLD job. Friday at work was unpleasant until the very end and I won’t even go into details as it would make me cry. Suffice to say it’s OVER. Our party on Friday night was absolutely wonderful. Of course I’d had this vision of all the adults sitting around and eating and drinking while the kids played in the field. Unfortunately it rained the whole eveing but you know, it was really great. At least hopefully everyone had as good a time as we did. Tons of kids, tons of food and lots of kind, funny and generous people.
I just harvested some vegetables from our garden. Here’s a picture: (those are Leo’s purple carrots…)
Today is my birthday and it’s been lovely. Took my dad to church, took him for coffee after and did their shopping. Then Ernie helped me try to clean out their refrigerator. My mother had asked my father to take some of the groceries of their plastic bags. She meant taking the peaches out of the grocery bag they’d been left in. He however took every plastic bag off evrything in the refrigerator…. Piles of lettuce sitting on shelves, pieces of bacon sitting naked on the shelves, etc. Can’t really argue–he did what she said but it had gotten a bit scary in there. So after a long morning of parents I came home and took a nap without guilt. I can’t think of a better birthday present than napping without guilt!
You are a model of restraint. The party was so abysmal, the stink is still hanging in the air. Sorry I forgot your birthday, but you have the greatest gift already, a chance to start fresh in a better environment. Have a great vacation. See you at Petals and Paintings, with or without a “shot in the arm.” Ugh.
ohhh—good to know it wasn’t just me…..talk about godawful….
still sorry I didn’t say goodbye to you properly but I might have gotten all weepy and hugged you so it may have been for the best….
it feels GREAT to not be there today!
Happy Birthday!
