Although I got a few video clips—such as Owen twirling his sand shovel—here are several memories from the trip that I really wish I had video clips of:

1.  Owen walking OUT of the ocean wearing his yellow firefighter boots—water sloshing out of them with each step.  They did protect him from crabs but were a bit uncomfortable once they filled with water…

2.  Leo and Owen flying the remote control helicopter their loving aunt bought them onto the roof of our house.  The two sisters laughing uncontrollably and Ernie muttering and not being amused.  Luckily the woman next door lives there year round and had long tree cutters that managed to knock it off.  Ernie says he used to love his sister in law…

3.  Leo and Owen chasing a huge seagull away from our picnic on the beach—Leo running towards it waving his fist in the air—-as we bellowed from the ocean.  Who knew seagulls could open containers of olives…

4.  The boys getting giddy on the ride home and laughing uncontrollably in the van….I got a little of it on video but not the point when all four of us REALLY started giggling at each…

5.  The boys playing pirates and jumping from bed to bed in the motel rooms.  It drove me crazy but they were SO happy…
ohhhh, I miss it.  I was trying to figure out how to do two weeks next year but then I realized I could never leave my parents that long.  Of course who know how things will be by next summer.  That’s o.k.—one week should keep me going for awhile.  And of course, as Leo said when I was putting him to bed the night we got home.  I love Maine…..but this is home.
