Valentine’s Day, 1981. We’d been going out about a month. Ernie gave me a pink tulip and an antique heart shaped opal necklace. Then Milktoast played in downtown Champaign. I was in LOVE. I know the Vertebrats played—-but there were other bands too. Did you play that night Jon?? I’m getting it confused with bands that played there on the previous Halloween….

Rayguns, Organ Donor, Crucial and the Wheat Brothers were the other bands at the 2/14/81 show. Wheat Brothers were Ken and Matt from the Vertebrats doing an acoustic set.
One of these days I have to get my daughter to show me how to set up a site I can upload all those to.

I remember that show! That was a good one. Milktoast AND the Rayguns – was there a Paul Budin band on the roster too?

May 9, 1981 – Fuzzy Dice, Gnomads, Crucial, Wheat Brothers, Arthur Treachery, Organ Donor and Vertebrats. I have that show on tape also (not converted to any digital media yet). These are the the only 2 shows from that venue I recorded. I also remember a Halloween show in 1980 and one in the Spring 1980 (first time I saw the Vertebrats).
