Ernie woke me up this morning and I immediately asked in a sleepy voice, “is there snow” and when he said no I moaned in protest. However about ten minutes later it hit and actually made for an interesting drive to work. It looks as though it has tapered off now but look at what greeted me when I got to work:

Well, we were supposed to go on a tour of an assisted living place this afternoon but my folks didn’t want to go out in the snow and I don’t blame them—-the last thing we need is a fall. So we’ll probably have to postpone two weeks as next Friday afternoon is Leo’s holiday program (maybe he’ll even open his mouth and sing with his class this year instead of standing there frozen, grumpy and mute) and then our holiday party is that evening. Oh—and our new couch is supposed to be delivered the day of our party and they deliver until 7:00 at night and the party starts at 5:30. hmmmmm. I can’t wait even though my sister informed me she didn’t like my color choice for the couch (I love you Judi).

  1. Hey Cynthia, this looks beautiful! You are such a good photographer too! I love the winter too as you know–the holiday decorations, the forecasts and the excitement of it all. Here in PR the temperature has dropped a little: yesterday it was 77 during the day and people were wearing sweaters!!! not me, I’m sweating and sweating…thank god for my air conditioner!! Miss you, gisela.

  2. gorgeous shot. Is this Japan House? I remember the last time I was in Urbana, and we finally got around to seeing it, and just walking through the gardens, how tranquil it was. Or is this your house?

  4. Oh no, my yard looks nothing like this! This is the tea garden at Japan House. It is really beautiful there and I couldn’t wait to see snow in the gardens so I actually didn’t mind going to work yesterday morning!
