Well, it will probably be another two years before we have baseboards in the kitchen but that’s o.k.—-I’m thrilled with what we have done.  Here is the kitchen back in 2004–I had trouble finding a picture of it…

Then we lived for two years with the cupboards installed but a torn up kitchen floor—true Voelkl fashion actually—I may have corrupted Ernie.  Anyway—at long last here it is with the new floor and the backsplash:

  11. Yep, the backsplash is tile. We really had to something about the floor as it was falling apart but the backsplash was a splurge—but now it’s what I’m most thrilled with—it really changed the room, especially as we brought it around to one wall too….
