1. I just saw two kids run into our yard, open the guys’ sandbox, take some toys and run back to their house. So I went out and yelled at them. These are kids that they don’t really know well—in fact I’m not sure who one of them was and they were way old enough to know better. I feel a little mean for yelling but I’m also pissed because I decided I’d been wrong in my opinion of that kid and had been saying nice things about him and now I’m disappointed. At heart I think he’s a good kid but I don’t know that he’s got a lot going on for him in terms of environment. That’s why I feel a little mean but just the same he doesn’t get to take things that aren’t his…ehhhhhh.
2. Our neighborhood parade is always the highlight of the Fourth for me. Here are Ricky, Leo and Owen ready to set off…
3. The damn Japanese Beetles are making their presence felt so we are starting our summer hobby of knocking them off into soapy water…
4. In other exciting news: Owen’s pumpkin vine has two pumpkins.
5. Good evening on the 4th with friends and kids….watching neighborhood fireworks from our field. Next year I must be more diligent with the camera….you wouldn’t believe what goes for neighborhood fireworks….
I’d go ‘head put some straw under those pumpkins.
I wish I lived in Urbana again. You guys made a good decision.
I’m working on a blog post on Van Cagle. Stay tuned.
As my crazy old neighbor Mrs. Powalski would say, “You god damn bastards better get off my lawn. That softball is MINE now, boscoe.”
I want pictures of them taking the booty. Permanent record stuff. You’ve got enough without having to raise the whole village but its good you’re keeping an eye out.
