Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Huh, I’m feeling rather cheerful. Imagine that!  I just ordered some more Christmas presents and then I called in to check on my mother and she sounded…….really good!  Yes, she sounded like herself.  It was so nice I can’t even tell you!

2.  Owen has become downright obsessed with one of his books that Debbie sent him last year.  It’s called Owen and Mzee and we read it first thing in the morning and last thing at night and sometimes in between.  He even brought it to school with him today to show his teacher.  He’s very proud that Owen the hippo has the same name as him….

3. Did I tell you that my beloved cast iron pot that Ernie got me cracked?  Can you believe it?  I was so happy with it…used it several times but one day Ernie went to clean it out and found it cracked.  I am so sad…..

4.  My parents’ homecare worker offered to decorate their Christmas tree for them but my mother declined….she wants us to do it. sigh.  I’ll squeeze it in somehow…..

  1. We love that book too! How sweet that Owen is so attached to it. Sorry about your beautiful cast iron pot, I didn’t even know they could crack! 🙁 I hope your parents come to peace with getting more help soon. I know it is hard to ask for help outside the family, but it takes a toll on the care-giver. It has to be such a tough decision. You can’t do it all and it sounds like the medicine situation alone is something that needs daily watching. Strength to you and hopefully you’ll have some time to rest this holiday season. I love all the pictures of the decorations, snow, and ice.
