Salmon, Sticks and Big Logs

Some days are better than others and the same goes for evenings. Last night I got home from work and had a contretemps with a certain son and it made me slightly sad and grumpy for much of the night. I think Ernie and I have our strengths as parents but then of course we have our weaknesses and sometimes they stare you in the face.

Bleh.

Ernie and I ended up eating dinner at 9:50, watching a bit of the news and tumbling into bed where he turned into the immobilized stick figure he is when he sleeps and I read restlessly for awhile. My dinner was kinda lackluster but the salmon and spinach was good and I was inordinately proud of myself for not resorting to popcorn or delivery.

Hopefully a better day today.

On a brighter note my friend Nick's comment in yesterday's post reminded me of this video…

Way back when we worked at Record Service in the, ahem, 80's we developed the term Big Log to describe any song or album that you liked but were slightly embarassed to admit to liking. It's a wildly useful term. Just think about how many Big Logs you probably have…

  1. I only have two “Big Logs”.
well, that’s all I will admit too.
I would sure like to hear the stories about the Record Service…

  2. Those are pretty peppers on your counter. Your salmon looks amazing. And both of these comments sound a little off-color, I suppose. Hope today is really wonderful for you, Cynthia.

  3. I’m laughing at the artful shots of Robert Plant’s backside. And, gasp, I think he’s wearing a mullet! Hope your day is a more lighthearted today, Cynthia. Way to go on eating the good stuff instead of heading out. That is a battle I face 2 or 3 times a week, it seems. I’ll hang in there if you will! : )

  4. I love Big Log! Where did you get those poblanos? I have to go in for another birthday luncheon Saturday, the last couple of times Schnuck’s haven’t had any.

  5. I am, too, when I get in, I buy a ton! But I’ll be at Lincolnshire CC way south, not sure I want to battle mall traffic on a Saturday. I think I’ll try the County Market on (eh, whatever that street is, south from Prairie Gardens, I know how to get there). They usually have pretty good produce there. Maybe I’ll spring for some Italian parsley.

Thoughts?
