Mmmmm.
Last night started out nicely. I took Ernie out for a drink to celebrate that the University has indeed given out raises this year. I take the "I'll believe it when I see it and I haven't seen it yet" approach to that so I was tickled when I got my letter from the Dean today. After taxes it doesn't come out to much per paycheck but no complaints…I am very, very, VERY happy to have it. I took a salary cut a few years ago when I changed jobs because I was in such a wretched situation and then of course we had several years of no raises so anything helps.
We had a lovely time chatting, watched the rain pour down. We had one phone call from Owen when he heard the first clap of thunder but that was it. When we got home I walked into the kitchen and almost fell over. There was NObody at the computer. "WHERE IS LEO?" I bellowed. He quickly appeared from the media room where he'd been sitting with his brother during the storm and took his rightful place. My sweet pea.
We made a nice dinner of Val's Curried Chicken Thighs per Owen's request, some roasted potatoes, some broccoli and summer squash sauteed together and some sliced tomatoes. I love colorful plates. Then the evening quickly turned to shit.
Yay family life.
Eh, I love them all to pieces but some nights I could do without. Nobody can hurt your feelings like those you love.
Jerks.
But then again they're MY jerks so I guess things are fine.
