Ah. Fall.
This Saturday at 9:49 a.m. CST if my husband is to be believed.
I LOVE fall. I feel more alive and excited. I know many people feel the opposite but it makes me feel energized and happy.
AND our official fall schedule for Sandwich Life House Concerts makes me happy too.

I'm thinking Indian food for this one.

For this I think maybe classic Heartland comfort food with a Pie-Off to follow. I have four friends in particular that make ridiculously good pies. Boo, Mary, Ann and Dick "Piecrust" Detzner. I figure lots of other friends probably make good pies too so we will have a pie-off. Dessert pies only…and one piece of each pie will be set aside for the judges. I'm hoping David and Sergio will act as judges…and we'll ask someone else to make sure there's not a tie….
Kristi Rose and Fats Kaplin
Saturday, December 15, 2012 (this isn't totally nailed down but looks good)
I think I might make my traditional Christmas meal of French-Canadian tourtiere. It tastes like Christmas to me and it feel like sharing my family with you…and Fats and Kristi Rose feel like Christmas too so it seems like a good combination.
Sound good?
I think I may do something that may be heretical in the house concert world as well. I think I might put out a donation jar for "party expenses." Because we give all the money that you donate to the artists, well, I admit we sometimes spend more than we should. Of course, I know that you guys do too…I know it adds up—-the money for the artist and then the cost of bringing something to the potluck. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than dinner and a show at a club but it still adds up….so I don't expect everyone to contribute to this but I think I'll put it out there and if we get even just a few bucks it will help. O.k?
Since Kevin Gordon is up next I'll leave you with a song of his. Listen please….
Oh, yeah…and here are a couple of other guys doing his song….
Mark you calendars folks!
Lots to look forward to spelled out in this post…
A pie-off!! I’m in–I make kick ass pies as well. The hard part will be deciding which sort of pie to make!
Mmmmm…I’m also here to vouch for your tourtiere, otherwise known as a meat pie. mmm mmmm, dang–it’s good!
Can’t wait!
