Third time with Adam and Chris Carroll and better than ever. I just couldn't love the two of them any more than I do. They are glorious. Incredible songs….Chris' gorgeous vocal and harmonies too…and the way Adam tips his head back and closes his eyes when he's really amused. Oh, and the songs, the songs, the songs. I just wanted to keep them here….cook dinner for them and hang out. I adore them, and can't wait until they come back. Thank you Adam Dawson for nagging me enough to book them….you were OH so right, and we will keep doing so if they'll agree to it!
As always, I wish there had been a better crowd, but DAMN folks LOVED them. Ernie and I kind of laughed, because after the show, the two of us were really tired and sat down side by side, but the crowd just stayed and hung out and chatted and bought stuff. Lord, it was wonderful. Oh, and many thanks to Kevin Elliott for opening….Adam and Chris particularly loved his 'Prettiest Girl in AA.' It was great!!!

I gotta admit…I have not been feeling my best and so I had a hard time getting ready for this show, but I ended up doing a really simple menu that worked really well. First, I did a double batch of my sesame noodles. As I made them I said out loud, "Thank God for Stephanie Howard-Gallo giving me this recipe years ago." I have made this recipe more than any other for house concerts and other parties. Carole asked for a reminder so here it is.
Sesame Noodles So Easy You Memorize the Recipe
1 lb of pasta cooked (we like whole wheat angel hair best, but anything works)
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup sesame oil
1 healthy teaspoon (or more to taste) red pepper flakes.
Drain the pasta, mix together the other ingredients and toss. I think it's sometimes it's better the next day, but sometimes you might need to add a bit more dressing.

I also made up a version of curried rice and chicken salad.
Cynthia's Random Curried Basmati and Chicken Salad
1 cup Basmati rice (uncooked) cooked. Spread on a tray to cool, and break apart with a fork.
1 package (6) boneless skinless chicken thighs. Place in cold, salted water, bring to a boil, turn off heat, cover and let sit until completed cooked
In a skillet I added a few T vegetable oil, some chopped ginger (whatever you have), two teaspoons or so of my favorite curry powder, a teaspoon or so of cumin seed, and anything else you want. I think I threw some red pepper flakes in too. Cook until fragrant. Add the chicken (cut up) and toss.
Put the cooled rice and seasoned chicken in a big bowl. I added chopped raw sweet bell pepper in red, orange and yellow, and a big handful of halved cherry tomatoes. If I could eat garlic or onion I would have of course added it. You could of course add anything else you want…I meant to add green peas but I forgot.
I made about a half cup of vinaigrette with sherry vinegar, cumin seed, mustard, salt, pepper, and vegetable oil. I mixed it up and poured it into the rice and chicken mixture. I added some chopped parsley and that was it. It turned out pretty well….I'll make it again. It would probably be equally as good without the chicken too.
