I'm here, slogging along. Owen's sick and I'm down with a bit of it too. Just a cold and aches kind of thing. I have no news so I will share the list I have on my phone of Blog Notes. Whenever I want to remember things I jot them down on this list. Sometimes I do remember, and sometimes I wonder why the hell I wrote it. Since I don't seem to be getting around to expounding on any of these things, I will list them for you here.

1. Dropped eggs.

I never realized that this was a New England term; that other people just call them poached eggs. My favorite breakfast as a kid was a dropped egg on toast. I found this article from 1934 but couldn't swing the $15 to download it.

2. Arbitrary Love.

I have no idea what this means, but it would be a great band name.

3. Mad Max Antique Show

Again, I have no idea where this came from, but it IS intriguing.

4. Mrs. Maisel Ending Songs.

They're great.

5. Crush on Tom Collichio.

Not sure why I wrote this down, except that Ernie looked at me quizzically.

6. Casino. Big Star. Bowie. Elvis Costello.

We went to a bar at a casino. Drinks were incredibly cheap and we were fascinated by the playlist.

7. Egg of Death.

Poor Cyril has been under the weather, and in one moment of despair Owen referred to him as the Egg of Death. When I told Ernie this, he said it sounded like a Richard and Linda Thompson song. I love him.

8. Natural Talent for Bad Decisions

Leo's comment on his brother.

And last, but not least, I cut open a pretty perfect avocado this morning, and it was a thing of beauty.

  1. The Two Fat Ladies Cookbook (from the BBC cooking show) has a recipe for a dish that involves “drappit” eggs, which I guess is Scottish for “dropped.”
I would watch the hell out of the Mad Max Antiques Road Show.

Thoughts?
