Damn. Every time one of the guys, Ernie, Leo, or Owen, leaves the house, I say, "Be careful!" Today I was at 25 O'Clock, working with my beloved Ceal and Roger, to figure out how to hang my photos for the Boneyard (thank GOD for them). I had sent Ernie off to pick something up at Home Depot or Lowes…I forget. And the thing is, I FORGOT to say, "be careful." He called at one point and I told him to just come back, we didn't need what I'd sent him off for. Roger and Ceal and Tom and I finished up and were sitting talking. Suddenly it occurred to me that I hadn't heard from Ernie for a long time. I got up and went to my phone.

Damn.

Long story short. He's ok. A car hit another car which then hit him. He called 911. They asked him how the other people were so he went to them. One women was encased in air bags and kept asking what had happened. He held her hand and patted her shoulder and tried to comfort her. He went to the other car and said they just seemed in shock. The ambulances and firetrucks and police all came. Roger and Ceal drove me home. Tom headed for Ernie. Then I heard from Ernie that Owen was going to get him…so I told him to go back…but by the time Roger and Ceal dropped me off I found Owen's car had broken down. They headed to get Ernie and I went inside and let Owen hug me.  When Roger and Ceal dropped Ernie off I stood at the front door. I watched Ernie walk to the front door avoiding my eyes, which I knew meant he was upset. We got this car five years ago after being in a bad accident in my sister's old car. Ernie ended up having to have surgery and it was really hard on him emotionally

God fucking damn it.

He got home and we walked down to Huber's after making some phone calls. Leo picked us up and Leo and I stopped at Schnuck's and picked up some things.

Tomorrow, hopefully we'll get a rental car, as ours had to be towed.

We are all so fragile, and we, personally, are so lucky, even though scared.
