I seem to have come down with a bit of a cold. I think I've been lax with my diet and busy and tired…so it makes sense. I used to get colds CONSTANTLY but since I've given up gluten I rarely get them. A gray morning, scratchy throat, tired, Owen's having trouble with his summer school registration, it's feeling very Monday. Ugh. Despite that…it was a lovely weekend. We'd hoped to get to Moccasin Creek Festival on Friday to see Anne McCue in particular, but the rain got in the way. Saturday I woke up grumpy but managed to get it together to get down to MCF. It was fabulous and saw lots of good friends. Darrell Scott blew me away, and of course, Slaid Cleaves was great. We left before Steel Wheels whom I'd wanted to see, but I was crazy tired…now I realize I was getting this cold (which Ernie seems to have too). I wondered why I was so very tired. After going through my health issues last year I now start to panic if I think I'm going backward. Good inspiration to stick with the changes.
Anyway, a few random pictures:
A picture of my two boys getting ready to serve pancakes they made together. Owen tried to make them himself the other day and didn't think they turned out right. So, this time he made the batter and then called in the master to assist. Immediately after this they both gave me the finger for taking their picture. Considering how much I take their pictures I did not take offense. Please ignore the messy kitchen.
And speaking of cooking skills…. We got back from MCF around 9 and were really hungry. We were trying to figure out what we could scrounge and came in to find homemade fried chicken. Owen really can cook. Ernie was delighted and that meant there was more scrounge food left for me.
Owen finally got his acreage planted. A variety of pepper, sugar snap peas and cucumbers. He wanted all things he liked to eat. Oh, and some cool ruffly basil. It's late, but we'll see. A boy and his garden. Does my heart good.
Ernie pontificating about something and wearing his Phil Lee shirt.
Oh, and a couple from MCF. I don't know why I didn't bring my real camera. I just wasn't all together this weekend. If we can swing it, I think I'd like to stay over next year for this festival. Not that it's that far a drive, but it woulda been nice. Only downside is you're not supposed to bring in your own food, but festival food just isn't the healthiest, although it looked good. My decision for gluten free festival food? Pork rinds. Ernie was amused. There were nachos but I didn't want cheese. I guess the other option was french fries….? I don't know. I stand by my choice.

Chuck Hawthorne:
I liked the way the shaft of sunlight highlighted the rabbit costume wearing trumpet player who rose from behind the sign…
Ok, that's all for now. A bit humbledy jumbledly but a good weekend.
Onward.
