I'm giddy with excitement as Ernie and I are going for a drive today….coming back tomorrow. The boys, of course, are delighted that we won't be around. We haven't been for drive in a bit and I was getting itchy to take some pictures. I thought Ernie would not be enthusiastic, but he was up for it as well, so in a bit, after some breakfast, we will meander off in the rain and see what we can find.
I'll document a few meals before we go.
Friday night we were too tired when we got home to cook the scallops we had planned on using. Ernie had eggs, and I had the leftover steamed vegetables topped with a fried egg. Truly delightful.
Last night we had the scallops, seared in brown butter and tarragon, on top of a mix of baby greens—spinach, chard, kale. Ernie got gorgeous little cherry tomatoes from Farmer Greg and mix of raspberries and blackberries…also from Greg. I made do with just the berries, but as Ernie's not as enthusiastic about scallops as I am, I got a couple extra of those.
Those berries were heavenly. Ernie got them yesterday morning at the market and by the end of dinner, they were totally gone. Just pefection.
