It must be fall because we roasted a chicken instead of grilling it last night. I love the seasonal change in cooking. We did it simply, just salt, pepper, and olive oil. 500 degrees for an hour for a four-pound chicken. We threw some cut up potatoes in the pan with it. I was planning to have mine just on a bed of greens but I couldn't resist a potato or two with it too. Today I'm going to try to make some kind of coconut milk-turmeric-cod-veggie stew for dinner. We shall see.
This morning, I asked Ernie to cook my piece of salmon because he does a better job getting crispy skin. He put it on top of some leftover sweet potato but it was, of course, the garnish that got me. I love him. And yes, I've become completely used to having fish for breakfast.
I know this isn't the best picture but it captures Bob reaching out to hold Ernie's hand. He does this a lot. It's almost embarrassing how much that cat loves him, but, course, it is reciprocated, so all is well.
And now, in today's episode of CHEATING: Was it worth it?
THIS (although a lousy overlit hotel room picture) was TOTALLY worth the cheat. Wings from 17th Street BBQ. Felt a bit lousy the next day because I know there was garlic salt or powder in there somewhere, but worth every bit of it.
THIS was totally NOT worth it. A breakfast burger sans bun. Just no, no, no. The burger and accoutrements were meh, the fries were great, but still not at all worth it and I felt wretched from it.
I so love fish for breakfast, too.
you and I were made to be friends!
