Good God.
What an extraordinary guy.
And, I might add, there aren't many people that would have dragged me out into the cold last night. After our hellish drive in the snow on Monday, I just wanted to hole up. There is no question though, if Aaron Lee is in the vicinity, we will be there. The four of us (Ernie, me, Owen, and Duncan) trundled off to Bloomington. We played In the Blazes loudly as we drove, with Owen and Duncan singing along and harmonizing in the back seat. It was lovely. Lovely.
We had a quick dinner at Lucca Cafe. Who knew we'd need to make a reservation for downstairs on a cold Tuesday night? We ate upstairs but it was still good. Owen hated his chicken wings, and I gotta agree, they were bad totally freezer tasting, but my salad was great. I love that place. We got to the Castle with about 20 minutes to spare. It was pretty crowded but we were able to get right up in front of the stage and Donna and Heather joined us so we had a nice little contingent.
Aaron Lee was fucking magnificent.
Magnificent.
And the bands' harmonies….so beautiful; it's amazing what they achieve live.
Utter joy.
I'll never forget that when he played here at the house I walked into the kitchen where Ernie was standing and my usually reserved husband grabbed me by my shoulders and hissed, "HIS SENSE OF MELODY!"
Yup.
Just an astounding musician.
