Another quiet week zooms by. The Honda's in the shop, hopefully back today. I hate it when our faithful car feels weak. Yet again I have to say I've been doing nothing but working, eating, watching cooking shows and taking pictures of cats and food. What else? Hmmm. Bought a Chuck Prophet book on kindle last night so I have that treat waiting for me.

It appears that no stimulus check is going to whisk us away to Maine so I am starting to plan for a wander toward the end of this month. I'm still trying to decide where. Suggestions welcome.

Food this week:

Leftover vegetables, rice and kale pesto for lunch.

Normally when I cook steak or fish I just kind of go by feel as to when it's done. I'm trying to get the hang of going by temperature but I fail at it every time or else I like my fish and steak done a lot more rare than normal. I just don't know. I may have to stick to my poking method because my piece of steak was way overdone but they weren't all that way so I guess there's hope. I haven't roasted potatoes in eons so they tasted crazy good. Dusted cut up little russets with paprika, a dash of cayenne and salt and pepper. Delightful.

Last night I pulled a package of six good sized pork chops out of the refrigerator. "Good," I thought, "We'll have leftovers." Ha! I ate one, Ernie ate one and Owen ate four. He also demolished a lot of rice and told me I should have made more vegetables! He is, as he reminded me, 18.

I'm glad September is here.
