No news is good news except when it’s just plain old no news. We are waiting to hear back from Health Alliance about the appeal for Ernie’s treatment. If they don’t approve it I imagine the doctors will come up with a new plan but I won’t say this isn’t stressful.

The weekend was good but it felt funny to not have a chemo appointment today. On the plus side of delayed treatment (silver lining appreciation yet again), Ernie is feeling really good and is back to having an appetite and has a bit more energy. Crossing my fingers that he will be up to going to see Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives with Owen in Nashville, Indiana on Thursday. I bought tickets awhile back and couldn’t even really afford them but I REALLY want Owen to see them with Ernie. I mean, let’s face it, they are the best band in the world. I think the current line up is the best band Marty has ever had, going back to a million years ago when we saw him at the Clearwater Saloon on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Life was very different when I bought these tickets but I’m hoping they will make it.

Oh, and if you haven’t watched this Otis Gibbs video with Kenny Vaughn you really should (and follow it with the actual Letterman performance).

Look, Ernie’s feeling good enough to work on his model and be goofy!

Another positive: we actually cooked dinner and it was delicious—simple but delicious. Ernie grilled pork steaks and we had them with mashed potatoes (I had bought mashed potatoes at the store when I was trying everything to get Ernie to eat) and sugar snap peas. We haven’t grilled in eons and it was so good. Ordering from InstaCart is interesting. We had a missing item yesterday but they refunded it immediately. We’ve gotten one banana when we wanted a bunch, but generally it works pretty well. We ordered pork steaks yesterday and when we got them they were different than I’ve had in the past. They were trimmed into smaller pieces which was so nice.

Thanks to Teri and Brian for the visit and the flowers and to Jeff for the visit and the great shirt. Oh, and off topic, but Ernie is feeling good today because he’s wearing his Raye’s Mustard t-shirt under his Raye’s Mustard hoodie. As he said, he’s walking mustard. Thanks to Adam and Annie for that!!

  1. Cynthia, we saw Marty at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet last month. It was superlative. Take care
