I had spotted mouse poop by the cat food bowl a month or more ago. We told the cats about it but they just looked at us tiredly. Then, when Ernie was in the hospital Owen and Trinity discovered that there was tons of mouse poop in the basement. Owen didn’t break the news until we were in a bit better shape. God help us, one more thing to deal with.
We’ve always had mice occasionally in the house. In the past however, we had trained exterminators in Harlan, Johnny, Annie and Rascal. Rascal moved out with Owen and Trinity though and let’s just say the other three moved on in a different way. Hattie and Bob have served us well but they seem to be pretty solidly in retirement.
I ordered mouse traps. Ernie pulled two out of the box on Saturday and put one near the cat bowl and one in the drawer below the oven where we’d also seem droppings. As of Monday morning 19 of them have been felled.
19
Do you realize how many there must be for us to have caught 19 in two days? I’m absolutely horrified. We’d seen one going from under the spice cabinet to the cat bowl and Hattie and Bob had expressed some interest in the area before retiring to their couch but 19? Geez.

Updated to add…I believe we are now at 20. The carnage has slowed.

Fewer mice. How nice. Hurrah for the Trappist. Trap the mice and so what if they’re pist.
I used to live in a house built in 1923. Every October mice would invade. It would take us a few weeks to trap them all. Yeah, I can believe 19 in two days. Been there. Ugh.
Oh dear….
what kind of miracle trap did you use to catch 19 mice in two days? Just wondering!
