Oh, Peter.

I can’t keep the tears from falling for the loss of my beloved friend.

He was loved by so many. SO many words will be written in tribute.

The last time I talked to him was on my birthday. He called to wish me a happy birthday as he did every year.

Every year I was astounded by his kind thoughtfulness.

That was Peter. So kind to so many although probably not as kind to himself.

I think not only about what has been lost to his family and loved ones but also what music history was in that brain and the brilliant consideration and writing that will never happen now.

I really have no words, which is ironic given that he was a master of them.

His writing was so true. That’s why you could feel it in your heart.

I will love you forever, Peter Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Baker Cooper fund to support Peter’s son’s education, or the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, supporting their cultural organization’s educational mission.
