Think of this as a triptych entitled, “Mornings with Hattie.”
Yesterday was the 14th anniversary of my sister Judi’s death.
February. Oh, February.
Groundhog Day would have been my parents’ something or other wedding anniversary. Judi died on the 7th in 2009, my mother passed on the 17th in 2010. She was buried on the 25th which was also Judi’s birthday. Judi’s service was on the 14th which was also Ernie’s parents’ anniversary and is Trinity’s birthday.
Lots of memories. Lots of thoughts. Trying to hold off grief and savor the memories. Like much in life, it’s all a matter of balance.
Yesterday we actually LEFT the house and didn’t go to the cancer center, the hospital or the dispensary! We just drove and it felt so good. I do miss my wanders. We saw an old friend in Elliott (see picture at top) and nodded at a new friend as well.
Time is a tricky little guy. It’s hard to believe that it was only a week ago we were at Barnes. Ernie seems to be coming back from that a bit and has another whole week before his next treatment here.
Onward. Ever onward.
