What an incredible weekend.
Sue Davis and her hot dogs.
Jan King and Tami Peden.
My sweet baby Leo back home from Washington DC.
A particularly outstanding batch of Ernie's Sunday biscuits.
I am so happy.
Friday night was absolutely wonderful. I just couldn't love that Phil Lee more….even if he DID send me a picture of himself in a Speedo in Greg and Vicky's pool! That boy is just special, as are his songs. Such good, good people he and Jan and Tami are. I was thrilled to have Jan here and had been hoping that Tami would accompany her so I was delighted when she popped out of the car. Owen was particularly pleased too as he loves them. And, as he noted as they left, "that's the SECOND time I've gotten a kiss from Jan King….and she brought me a PICK!"
I love all my friends, new and old, who just become part of the family at these things. Thanks to our beloved Doug Fink for figuring out the how to keep the hot dog equipment from blowing fuses and saved poor Sue who had nothing but a blinking sign in her head saying, "OMG no corn dogs, OMG, no corn dogs." Luckily a few extension cords and some stress later….we had corn dogs. And thank GOD because the corn dogs were AMAZING. I had told Sue I didn't know if liked corn dogs but evidently that is because I hadn't had HERS!! Thanks to Greg and Vicky Smith for being the most charming hosts in the world for Phil, Jan and Tami…and then Greg even went and got trash cans for the front yard when we realized we needed some and I didn't have anything. So he trots off to his house, brings back trashcans and extra trash bags…. That is how these house concerts are….everyone just contributes whatever is necessary. Such a gift they give us….
Yesterday was just one long post-concert glow…..ending up with the glorious sight of my Leo coming home. We all trundled off to the school to pick him up around 10:00. I could hardly bear it I was so excited when I saw the bus pull up. He was glowing and happy AND wearing short sleeves. He came home and we sat and looked at all his pictures.
All is right with my world and thank you so much to all of you that make it that way.
Perhaps my favorite picture of the night… Sue being Sue, wearing her corn dog fairy shirt (made by Jill Miller's Hooey Batiks), holding the perfect corn dog, with Phil and Jan and Tami walking down the alley toward the house. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
